Pecan-Spice Bacon

August 22, 2014

This is absolutely the best bacon we have ever eaten!  This is from Paula Deen’s Quick and Easy Meals, 2011.  In September of 2011, at the Metro Cooking Show in Houston, Texas, Paula Deen met with Kevin and blessed him with a sweet visit and such encouraging words.  “Remember, hard work and passion pay off.  Get up every day with passion.”  Kevin’s passion for cooking gives him the drive to get up every morning in anticipation and excitement of what he can cook that will be a blessing to you, his readers.  We give a heartfelt thanks to Paula Deen for taking the time to give hope and inspiration to a young man at just the time he needed it! (Renee Wilson)

12 slices bacon

1/4 c. pecans, finely chopped

1 tsp. apple pie spice

1/2 tsp. sugar

1/8 tsp. ground black pepper

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.  Line baking sheet with aluminum foil (for easy cleanup.)  Arrange bacon in a single layer,  Bake for 15 minutes.  In a small bowl, combine pecans, apple pie spice, sugar, and pepper; sprinkle over bacon.  Turn oven up to375 degrees.  Bake for and additional 10 to 15  minutes or until crisp.  Place bacon on paper towels to absorb grease or you can use a wire rack to cook the bacon on.
