Yummy Beef Hash

March 15, 2016

“Don’t judge a book by its cover”is definitely applicable for this main dish.  If you were to judge this recipe by its look, you probably wouldn’t even try making it.  However, if you did try it, you’d find that it is a winner according to the taste buds of both men, women, and children alike.  So, if you are looking for a meal that is inexpensive, fairly easy, and liked by everyone in your family, then this is the recipe for you!  Kevin’s version of “Glorified Hash”from Metropolitan Cook Book, 1957 ed. is brought to you by his Kickstarter Backers.

1 large onion, diced

1 1/2 lbs ground round

4 c. raw potatoes, diced

1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

salt and pepper to taste

2 c. hot water

3 tbsp. flour

1/4 c. cold water

Cook onion and ground round in a Dutch oven.  Drain excess fat.  Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, potatoes, and hot water.  Cover.  Cook until potatoes are tender.  Thicken gravy with flour mixed to smooth paste in cold water.  Heat thoroughly.
